Wii Shop Channel (gamespy)

- gamespy -

It wasn't supposed to be able to go online until tomorrow morning, but Nintendo's Wii online shop is alive and well. How do I know this? Over the last week or so, I've been trying to connect my Wii to the internet, but I kept getting an error stating that the servers were down. This all changed today, and after two different Wii system updates had been wirelessly downloaded, I was able to access the Wii Shop Channel.

The first thing I noticed before I got stuck into some retail therapy was that the new updates had patched certain functionality. Before the patch, I was only able to browse the Wii's internal memory for saved game data. There was no way to copy game saves onto an SD memory card. Well, now I can. This came as big relief, as my precious Twilight Princess game save data is now backed up. Very cool. Heading back to the main menu, I noticed that the Wii Shop was now activated.

After agreeing to Nintendo's long-winded End User License Agreement, I was ready to do some exploring. The following images were snapped in the order I trawled through the menus. Appropriate commentary will be tagged to each photo.
