Nintendo Wii Goes for Sale in US (hellocompany.org)

- hellocompany.org -

Nintendo WiiNintendo’s new console, the Wii games console has gone on sale in the US yesterday. Several thousand fans lined up, many of whom had camped for days to get a unit in New York and Hollywood. The Wii is largely seen as Nintendo’s answer to Sony and Microsoft who had been hogging the limelight with their super next-gen consoles, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

However, when it comes to handheld devices, Nintendo leads the pack with its DS and Gameboy consoles.

Nintendo is counting upon the console to boost its position vis-à-vis the leaders Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has rather focused on gaming experience with its remote control like motion sensitive controller that offers gamers a simpler but more ‘in-the-situation’ experience.

As it is more accessible to customers than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and the kind of gaming experience it provides, I have no doubts that it will prove to one of the most popular consoles and wouldn’t be too surprised if it turns out to be even more popular than the much hyped Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3.
