NEW YORK, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Nintendo's new Wii game system, which went on sale Sunday morning, is so far out-selling even the new PlayStation 3, reported WABC-TV New York.

About 1,000 people spent the night outside the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Center to get a crack at snagging a Nintendo Wii.

Some gamers even showed up Thursday night to get their hands on the system, which costs $250 and includes one free game.

American Technology Research analyst P.J. McNealy told USA Today there is a good reason why Nintendo is selling more Wii's than Sony is selling PS3's. Sony had hoped to deliver about 400,000 PS3s to the United States, while Nintendo planned on deliver 1 million Wiis.

"It's only the first 48 hours of a five-year battle, but the first 48 hours was clearly a victory for Nintendo," said McNealy. "They had more boxes."
