Classic Egyptian Puzzle Game Doubles Sales from First Version of the Game

MumboJumbo, a publisher of premium casual games, today announced that "LUXOR 2," an easy-to-learn, yet challenging action-puzzle game with an ancient Egyptian twist, held the No. 1 slot on RealNetworks’ RealArcade, the world’s largest casual games publisher and distributor, for four weeks since launching on October 15, 2006.

“'LUXOR 2' has all the ingredients that are important to our primary audience of women such as fast-paced levels and puzzle challenges,” said Michael Schutzler, executive vice president for the Games Division at RealNetworks. “Given the success of the original in 2005, we’re not surprised that 'LUXOR 2' has held the No. 1 position on RealArcade for four weeks.”

On all casual game sites, "LUXOR 2" has had more than twice the number of downloads and has sold through more than twice as many units in the same period of time as the original "LUXOR," the best selling game of ’05.

“One of the most popular selling franchises across virtually all casual game sites, the original 'LUXOR' has amassed over 40 million downloads since 2005,” said Mark Cottam, CEO of MumboJumbo. “The success of the franchise has skyrocketed with the popularity of 'LUXOR 2,' making it one of the most successful, and best selling casual game franchises in history.”

DFC Intelligence estimates that revenues from casual games worldwide will grow to $953 million this year, from $713 million last year, after steadily rising from $228 million in 2002.

"LUXOR 2" is the second installment of the award-winning PC game "LUXOR," which together has more than 50 million downloads over the life of franchise. "LUXOR 2" takes the addictive, puzzle-action title one step further, with dazzling, rendered stages and quality graphics that has widespread appeal among both casual and hardcore gaming enthusiasts.
