DS and DS Lite Adapter Recall (gamespy)

- gamespy -

We're starting to get the impression that Nintendo is the type of company that likes to pull the band-aid off in one quick motion. First it announces that it will be voluntarily replacing 3.2 million Wii Remote safety straps, and now it's recalling 200,000 AC adapters for the DS and DS Lite. Nintendo's dual-screened handhelds have been selling incredibly well lately, but apparently these 200,000 AC adapters can overheat and cause burns. Nintendo says that no injuries have been reported so far. According to Reuters, this recall is limited to Japanese machines, so chances are you won't have anything to worry about. Recalling these adapters may cost Nintendo up to $1.7 million. Nintendo says that the Wii Remote safety strap recall is expected to cost "several hundred million yen." Don't worry, they can afford it. Wii sales and DS sales have both been fantastic and Nintendo is forecasting a profit of 145 billion yen for the year to March 2007.
